Wendy Epley

Wendy Epley has been specializing in the international trade compliance industry since 2008. In 2019, she expanded her knowledge to include information security governance, risk, and compliance. Now, as a CMMC-Registered Practitioner, she is able to help organizations see the bigger picture in developing and evolving their compliance programs to ensure sensitive information and regulated products are secured according to U.S. law, regulations, and Government-wide policies.

Wendy has extensive knowledge of the complexities of managing a compliance program with institutions of higher education and scientific research. She was hired in 2011 by the University of Miami as the University’s first Export Compliance Officer; in 2015 became New York University’s first Import & Export Compliance Officer where she evolved and managed the trade compliance program for all of the university’s global sites, which included Shanghai, China, and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She has over 20 years of experience working for Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies providing her with comprehensive business acumen in a variety of industries.

Wendy has served as the subject matter expert for the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program’s Export Compliance series since 2012. In 2016, Dunlap-Stone University brought Wendy on as faculty to teach various courses on U.S. export controls. As an Emeritus member of the Association for University Export Control Officers (AUECO), Wendy has presented over the years on various international trade-related topics pertinent to institutions of higher education and research, as well as served on the Executive Board.

Wendy is not a lawyer, thus legal guidance should be obtained from an appropriate legal professional. Wendy provides consulting services for guidance and management solutions to build a robust compliance program in international trade and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program.
